YoYogaSoul is teaming up with A Positive Mind Matters to support pupil and student mental health and well-being in Hull and East Riding schools and colleges.
Why is mental health and well-being so vital to education?
Ofsted’s new inspection guidelines state that for schools to gain a good rating, pupils must enjoy learning about how to stay healthy and about emotional and mental health. To be outstanding, schools must enable students to be able to make informed choices about fitness and their emotional and mental well-being.
The children's counselling charity, Place2be says almost 90 per-cent of school staff have had to provide more support for pupils with mental health problems in the past two years.

What’s on offer and when:
Yoga classes and Character based Mindfulness lessons (whether a one off, or up to a 10 week curriculum) prior and following the school or college day, during lunchtime, as a workshop, as part of PE/PSHE, in the lead up to the examination period, and on health and well-being days. We also offer free funded Yoga classes for up to 8 weeks (conditions apply).
CPD training for staff on (MHFA) Mindfulness Mental Health First Aid For Youth/Schools and Colleges and Youth Mental Health First Aid Lite.
Yoga and Character based Mindfulness is proven to cultivate focus, increase attainment, enhance emotional resilience. health and well-being as well as improve pupil relationships thus reducing lower levels of bullying, including cyber.
Mental Health First Aid training teaches the importance of promoting and protecting well-being and how staff can spot and support young people who show the signs of mental health issues. It also reduces the stigma of mental health.
Tristessa Moore is an ex-English teacher with 20 years experience. She has previously worked as a Teaching and Learning Coach and on the PGCE course at the University of Huddersfield. She is now a trainee Yoga Therapist. As the owner of YoYogaSoul, she works to support the educational attainment, growth mindset (Dweck), resilience, health and well-being of young people through Teen Yoga and Character based Mindfulness.
